Year 4 Camping

Year 4 have had an exceptionally busy 36 hours. After working hard all day at school, the children popped home to collect all of their camping belongings and returned to school at 5.30 ready for their latest adventure! After an investigative nature hunt, the children had to undertake the exceptional challenge of learning how to erect thier tents under the guidance of their teachers and Mr Oliver.  They did amazingly well - it was no mean feat!

They then played cricket before harvesting their salad from the vegetable patch for their dinner.  A great feast was had thanks to the wonderful catering team of Miss Rice and Mrs Carr! The children were brilliant at washing up and clearing well.  I'm sure the parents will be proud!

This was followed by a beautiful camp fire, where the children were entertained, under the watchful eye of Mr Oliver and Miss Rice, with Mr Kirks and Mr Stephens' varied entertainment! They were certainly ready for their hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows.

After an uneventful (if somewhat short!) nights sleep the children were up bright and early for tent inspection ready for a skip to be fit session with Miss Green before breakfast...phew! We were so grateful for the governors and Mrs Britton who arrived en masse with a barbeque to feed the hungry troups thier breakfast.

By 9.15 we were ready to set off on our exploration of the village.  The children put all of their training into practise as they set their map to ground and followed their route plan.  They were certainly ready for a cheeky choclate break! A demonstration of their compass reading was followed by a leisurely walk back to school ready to strike our camp and await the parents.

We had an amazing 36 hours.  Thank you so much to the children and all the adults for making this such a lovely, if slightly tiring, experience!
