Learn and Grow Together with Love, Respect and Courage

Get in touch

Welcome

At Clatford C of E Primary School we aim to enable our Children to learn and grow together and achieve their maximum potential irrespective of their background or ability in a vibrant nurturing environment.  Our vision is underpinned by our spirituality and our core Christian values of Love, Respect and Courage.  Through them we provide children, staff and our school community with a code to live by.  Our shared values are at the centre of our school's Christian ethos, curriculum and policies and permeate our day to day interactions, relationships and decisions.  These alongside our learning friends help prepare our children for their life long learning journey.

Through opportunities to learn creatively and explore ideas, our children are encouraged to think deeply about their learning and whole well being. Staff work hard as a team, reviewing progress and exploring new strategies to capture the energy and enthusiasm of young learners and inspire them to develop a love of learning.  We place great emphasis on the needs of the individual, aiming to offer an education that is vibrant, rich, inclusive and exciting.

It is important to offer children a secure, safe and caring environment in which to develop.  We encourage the children to respect each other, to be truthful and honest and to care for and value the world around them.  We create a calm, quiet working and playing atmosphere. The school is set in lovely grounds within a beautiful village and has excellent facilities.  There is opportunity to study science, geography and history first hand.  The playground has been widely developed and provides areas for busy and quiet play, whilst the field allows the children to be active and healthy.  A range of clubs and links to the Church and local organisations ensure our children develop all their interests.

The school is ours to share. We hope you will become involved and work cooperatively with your child and us. The children are our priority; we keep them at the heart of everything we do. We want them to lead healthy, happy lives where they can learn to adapt to an ever changing world and fulfil their aspirations, goals and ambitions. We have a reputation of being a warm, friendly and caring school that works hard to achieve high standards in learning and develop the whole well being of every child.   We look forward to sharing with you the next exciting stage in your child's development and to provide a successful and memorable educational experience.

Our School

The Clatfords, Upper and Goodworth, are villages on the River Anton and although they share the same name, school and Rector, they are in many respects quite different in character.

Clatford School derives its name from two schools, one which existed in Upper Clatford and one in Goodworth Clatford. They both were founded in the nineteenth century by the parish priests of the time. In the second world war when Goodworth Clatford school was bombed it transferred to the school in Upper Clatford. They then both returned together in 1963 when a new school was built in Goodworth Clatford.

We are a Church of England aided Primary School for children aged 4 to 11. We have seven classrooms and a published admission number (PAN) of 30. The school was judged by Ofsted in 2014 as outstanding for the care, guidance and support we give children.

We have performed consistently in the top 10% of schools nationally and have sustained high standards and improved progress of all children supported by a strong team and quality teaching across the whole school. Learning is underpinned with our Learning Friends who help us learn how to learn, a vital skill in this ever changing world, and Philosophy for Children which helps children develop their language skills and teaches them how to live well together and respect each others opinions and value them for who they are.
