13th September 2024
Dear Parents and carers,
At the end of a very busy second week back at school I wanted to write to you with a few updates and couple of additional dates. This includes dates for our nativities this year in case you need to arrange for time away from work to attend.
First of all, I need to inform you that we are moving the final two INSET days of the year. Instead of the one in January and the one in May, these will now take place on the 21st and 22nd of July. This means that the Summer term will finish for the children on the 18th of July next year. I apologise for the change and hope that this gives you enough notice to adequately organise childcare on those days.
Secondly I wanted to celebrate two events that took place this week. The PTA AGM had a good turnout this week and it was great to see some new faces represented in support of the school. Mrs. Budd is now your new PTA chair and Mrs. Bowen-Dawes is your new treasurer. The committee looks as strong as ever, with some great support. The PTA managed to raise an exceptional amount last year with all of your help, so I would also like to offer a final note of thanks to last year’s committee members, Co-chairs (Mrs. Pullen and Mrs. Lambourne), treasurer (Mrs. Woods) and Secretary (Mrs. Kirk) for all of their hard work.
The other event that I wanted to mention this week was our ‘Cuppa with SENCO’ event with visiting speakers from the Mental Health Support Team. I think everyone came away with some new information and a better understanding of what that service can offer. I have attached some information about talks that you could attend if your child was affected by any of the challenges on the list.
The next ‘cuppa with SENCO’ is on the 24th October and this one is at 3:15pm. Primary Behaviour Service will be delivering a talk on ‘what your child’s behaviour is telling you.’
Finally, I wanted to share some highlights for me this week as I have been in and out of classes.
- Year R, with their amazing start and incredible ability to get stuck in to new things. I think they will be a brilliant year group!
- Book Ambassadors leading book clubs at lunch times this week for their peers to enjoy.
- Year 6 taking the lead with jobs around the school and setting great examples as Year R buddies.
- In every class I was able to see examples of ‘Love in action’, which is this term’s focus value.
Thanks again for all your support of our school,
Yours Sincerely,
Mr M Kirk
