Dear Parents and carers,
Tomorrow is International Day of Peace, established to represent our joint aspiration for peace across the globe. In recognition of that, Mrs Britten and our outgoing school council went to Harmony Woods to join children from across Andover for a Peace Day celebration.
We had an exciting Tuesday this week with a visit from the cross curricular orienteering team. Children from across the school got to participate in a range of map-reading and navigation activities and they have left us with our very own course on the school field. The staff also had some training on how to use it on Tuesday after school, so if any of the clubs on Tuesday night noticed us all running around the field – that was why!
On Tuesday this week, we did have an issue with a leak that meant school opened later than usual. I do apologise for the inevitable inconvenience this caused but want to thank everyone for their understanding and patience. The problem has now been resolved.
Next Friday (27th September) I have been informed that there is a memorial service occurring at St. Peter’s church for a much loved local resident. The church is expecting nearly 200 attendees for the service, which will run from 2:30pm to 3:30pm. The church have allocated additional parking but I wanted to let you know, as it may be quite busy at these times and you may need to allow some extra time for your journeys.
As I write this I am looking forward to our celebration worship this afternoon, and seeing which children have become our values and learning champions. If you are a new parent at the school, you might not be aware that this is where the children are given a special certificate by the class teacher and the parents of each of those children are invited in to join us for worship. When your child is the recipient, you will receive an email or Tapestry notification on the Thursday.
