Dear Parents and carers,
What a week! We have lots to be thankful for.
I would like to thank the PTA for the amazing Colour Run at the weekend. I would also like to thank the children who did so brilliantly with their running on the day! I have seen lots of sponsorship money being returned. The final totals are still being counted so if you have any sponsorship money left to bring in, please could you do so by Monday. We have had some incredible amounts raised by the children. Keira in Year 4, had filled a coffee pot with an incredible amount of money which totalled £160 and arrived this week with the biggest and proudest smile as she handed it over at the office. A really great team effort from everyone. Thank you! Please click on the link below to see a colourful array of photos of the day.

Key Stage 2 Play
The dress rehearsal has taken place and children are ready for the KS2 shows next week. I think we are in for a treat. We have been taking pictures during the rehearsals and will be taking more on Monday morning, during the rehearsal on stage. Once all shows have taken place, I will share all of the photos with you but I wanted to avoid potential spoilers.
We politely ask that you do not take photos during the show as we need to respect that some families do not wish their children to be photographed.
On Monday morning you will need to ensure your children are dropped off at The Lights from 8.30am. We absolutely understand if timings go awry, as we know how difficult it is if you are dropping children off in 2 different places. Bus children can get the bus as usual and will be dropped off at The Lights. Morning Club children can also come in as normal and will be transported. Afternoon pickup will also be at the Lights for all KS2 children.
Sport News
A big well done to the cricket team who played in the county finals this week. Mr. Murphy said that despite facing some talented opposition, children stayed strong to their Clatford values and worked diligently, respectfully and courageously as a team in every match. We may not have won, but to compete at that level was an impressive achievement in itself. Well done to Mr Murphy and the team.
Another team, who competed on the county stage at the weekend, were the Clatford Chess Club. We had four representatives at the county Megafinal on Sunday and the children played six games over the course of the day. All four of the competitors showed courage throughout and should be very proud of their individual performances on the day.
Next Week:
Sports Day is Friday 5th July and I know that Mrs. Woodman has emailed you already but I wanted to remind you of a few key points from that letter.
Firstly, there are less chairs than usual, so if you are someone that definitely needs a chair, please could you bring a portable camping chair or similar. You will be on the left hand-side of the track (looking up the field) this year. The children will be in their classes on the other side of the track. For safeguarding and security reasons we need to ask you to not call your children over to you or ask them to cross the track to come and see you in any way.
At the end of the event, you will be going to the classroom doors to pick up the children. Please go to the classroom door of your youngest child. Year R and Year 1 pickups will be from the normal place outside the wooden gate. We will try and organise it internally so that all of your children come out together. We will do our best.
We have a busy week ahead. There are Year 5 secondary taster days, New Year R home visits, a visit from an author on Tuesday, Year 4 are doing a river dip and the solar farm are coming in to run some workshops for Year 1 and Year 4.
I am looking forward to seeing you all at some or all of these events.
Wishing you a peaceful weekend,
Mr M Kirk
