PSHE and SRE
PSHE is an essential part of our curriculum, supporting our school’s core Christian values of Love, Respect and Belief, and contributing to the children’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. Our PSHE, including Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSE), supports the children’s learning and achievements, emotional wellbeing and growth, empowering them to take a proactive role in their own lives, school, and the life of their community.
We aim for a broad, balanced and creative curriculum that follows a whole school approach to meet the needs of our children. Linked to our core values, our programme of study is based on three ‘core themes’ (Relationships, Living in the Wider World & Health & Wellbeing). These build on pupils’ experiences, knowledge and understanding from EYFS to Year Six, encouraging them to be independent and active learners and citizens and make informed choices to support their wellbeing. PSHE education also helps pupils to develop skills and aptitudes — like teamwork, communication, and resilience — that are crucial to navigating the challenges and opportunities of the modern world. This closely links to the school’s Philosophy for Children where children can voice their own opinions and learn to respect the opinions of others. At Clatford, we want our PSHE to enrich a health promoting culture where the children learn and grow well.
