13th February 2026
Dear Parents,
As we head into the final day before half‑term, the school feels especially lively—with bake‑sale trays arriving, book tokens going home, and children buzzing about half-term and the range of haircuts being modelled today! I will say that despite the hairstyles, when I’ve walked into classrooms today the children have still been highly focussed on their learning, which is a testament to their dedication.
I have just had a meeting with ASK (Association of Service Kids) where we have given out Little Troopers badges for all of our service ambassadors in Year 4,5 and 6. In our meeting we talked about how the dandelion was a good symbol to represent our Service children across the country.
Bake Sale and Uniform Sale – Tonight
A reminder that our bake sale and pre-loved uniform sale will take place straight after school today. As always, these events help raise valuable funds, and they give families a chance to pick up tasty treats and good‑quality uniform at very low cost. Thank you in advance for supporting them.
Parking Reminder
Please can I again urge parents and carers not to park in the bus stop outside the school, even for a short time. We receive frequent complaints from local residents, other parents and road users, and parking there does create risks during busy drop‑off and pick‑up times. Your cooperation really helps keep everyone safe.
Cross Country Success
A huge well done to our Year 5 and 6 pupils who took part in the cross‑country event this week. Their resilience, determination, and sportsmanship were a real credit to the school. We are incredibly proud of their outstanding results as every runner gave it their all, and it truly paid off. Thank you also to the families who helped with transport as your support really does make these events possible.
Book Tokens and Half‑Term Reading
World Book Day book tokens have gone home in children’s bags today, so please do watch out for them. They can be used to claim one of the specially published £1 books or as part-payment towards any other book.
Half‑term is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy some extra reading together—whether that’s cosy bedtime books, magazines, comics, or favourite chapter stories. Every little bit helps nurture a love of reading.
Thank You PTA!
I am delighted to share that we now have a full set of school iPads on a trolley, thanks entirely to the incredible fundraising efforts of the Clatford PTA. This addition will make a real difference to teaching and learning across the school, especially in projects involving multimedia, coding, research skills, and creative learning. We are extremely grateful for the PTA’s continued support.
World Book Day
World Book Day will take place during the second week back after half‑term. Information has already gone out this week, but I know many children are already thinking about their costumes. It is always one of the highlights of the Spring term, and we look forward to celebrating our love of books together.
Wishing you all a restful, enjoyable, and well‑earned half‑term break.
Mr Kirk
