Dear Parents and carers,

At the end of another school year, as I reflect on the highs and lows, one thing has been consistent and that has been the wonderful support of our Clatford families. Thank you all!

Residentials

Over the last few weeks, the children have been lucky enough to participate in two very different overnight experiences. The Year Six team (Mrs. Coles, Mrs. Harding, Mr. Murphy and Mrs. Deery) took their class on an Osmington Bay adventure where they participated in climbing, sailing, raft-building, zip-wires and giant swings. They displayed a great attitude and had a lot to be proud of throughout their time away.

Year 4 (supported by Mrs. Isaac, Mrs. Carr, Mrs. Deery, Mrs. Woodman, Mrs. Walkom, Mr. Pearmain and myself) went on an overnight camp on the school field where they all erected their own tents and built their own fires to roast marshmallows. The tents all survived the night, so they must have done a brilliant job.

Thank you so much to the adults who have kindly volunteered their time to support these events as without them, none of these lovely experiences would be able to happen.

Tri-Wonder

It was good to see so many people supporting the Tri-Wonder event yesterday. I managed to take a few pictures, so please click on the link below and take a look, particularly if you didn’t make it to the event after school.

Goodbye and Welcome

I won’t name them individually, but we do have some children and families leaving us from various year groups to go to other schools at the end of this term. I want to wish the children and their families the best of luck as they continue their learning journeys. I know they will all be well missed.

It will be particularly sad to say goodbye to our Year 6 cohort this year. They have been brilliant buddies for our Year R children, who I know will all miss seeing them in the playground. As a group, they are definitely ready for their next steps. I am sure they will all do brilliantly!

A special mention to those families whose last child is leaving the school this year, as I know some of you have been coming up and down the drive at Clatford for many years. This is the end of an era.

Miss. Finn is leaving us today, which will be sad for many of us and particularly sad for those children who have had her as a teacher. She has shown kindness and compassion to the children in all of our classes and has worked exceptionally hard this year to ensure Year 3 have had a brilliant first year in KS2.

Miss Figueiredo, who has been a TA here for a while now, is also leaving us today. Lots of children in KS1 have appreciated her support with phonics, reading and with looking after them at lunchtimes. She will also be well missed.

Mr. Murphy is leaving us again! I remember the last time Mr. Murphy left in Year 6 as a Clatford pupil, but it didn’t seem long before he was back again and helping others. Mr. Murphy is going to Harrow Way School as he begins his training to be a secondary school PE teacher. I wish him the best of luck and think he will be an excellent addition to their PE department.

Mrs Jordan will not be returning to teach Year R after the Summer, as she will be beginning her maternity leave. Mrs. Carr will therefore be teaching for four days a week and Mrs. Deery will be teaching the children on Fridays.

I would like to welcome all our new Year R families starting in September, as this will be the first newsletter they receive. I know you will join me in making sure that they are all welcome with open arms into our Clatford community.

Wishing you a peaceful and happy Summer Holiday, with some rest, some fun and some lovely memories made with your amazing children. We will see you all in September.

Mr M Kirk
