Dear Parents and carers,
It has been a hot and busy week here at Clatford, with some exciting school trips.
First and foremost, I would like to thank those people who attended Sports Day this year. I think it was our best ever turnout and it was really awe-inspiring to see so many of our school community in one place at the same time. I was really impressed by the children’s courage and competitiveness in their races as well.
This week Year 1 and Year 4 went to Cowdown Solar Farm and learnt about solar energy and the wildlife in those areas. They will be doing a workshop next week at school which follows on from the trip. Meanwhile Year 3 went on a visit to Kew Gardens to look at the diverse range of plant life there. They had a long day with some lovely workshops.
I was lucky enough to join Year 6 for the Church Schools Leavers Service at Winchester Cathedral this year, which was an impressive event led by the Bishop of Basingstoke. We had previously shared with them some of the Year 6 art they had produced and art from all of the local church schools was then hung from the ceiling of the cathedral. It was an impressive installation.
A big thank you to all of our parent helpers this week. It all supports us in running these trips whilst ensuring the children are safe. We really appreciate the time and effort you put in to supporting our school.
Next week the children in KS2 will be doing lots of practice ready for the KS2 performance the following week. Don’t forget to grab your tickets from the Lights because if the rehearsals are anything to go by we are in for quite a show.
I have sent a job advert attached to this email for 2 positions that have become available at our Morning Club from September. I would mention this includes a free spot at Morning Club for your children, so if this is something you aren’t sure about, but are curious, I would urge you to contact Mrs. Harding and have a chat. As a school we hugely benefit from our reliable morning childcare. We are hoping to extend this to after school care as well in September.
Wishing you a peaceful and happy weekend,
Mr M Kirk
