Dear Parents
We have had lots to celebrate this week, as we’ve noticed how many of you are listening to your children read and supporting them with their spelling practice. The impact is clear in class, especially for those children who are keeping up with their practice at home, so we wanted to share our appreciation for the difference you’re making. If you haven’t had the chance to practise with your child recently, we would encourage you to do so.
Weather
The weather has not been kind to us this week, and the forecast suggests even more rain ahead. Please ensure that children come to school with waterproof coats each day, as well as spare shoes for outdoor play.
Lego
We use small LEGO sets for some of our small‑group work in school as part of a programme called LEGO Therapy. We are currently in need of a few more of these small sets, and we wondered whether any of you might have some at home that are no longer being used. They don’t need to be new, but they do need to include all their pieces and the full set of instructions. Any donations would be greatly appreciated.
Winchester Science Centre
On the 6th of February, Year 5 will be visiting the Winchester Science Centre. During the trip, they will take part in a workshop where they will learn how astrophysicists reflect and deflect light, along with exploring many other exhibits throughout the day. They will also have the opportunity to learn from a real scientist during their visit to the planetarium.
World Religion Day
As it was World Religion Day this week, we have been talking to the children about the concept of unity and the shared values found across different global religions. This links closely to our school value of Respect, particularly the idea of treating others as you would like to be treated.
Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable weekend,
Mr Kirk
