27th June 2025

Dear Parents and carers,

It has been a busy week of sporting events this week alongside musical and drama-based rehearsing,

Mr Murphy and the cricket team qualified for a day’s cricket at the Utilita Bowl, and they definitely made the most of their time there and even managed to win one of their games at this exceptionally high level to play at. Mr Murphy was very proud of them all for their great sportsmanship and excellent behaviour and a big thank you goes out to Mr Hayward who coached the team with Mr Murphy on the run up to the event.

Some of the children from the Clatford School Chess Club had qualified to play in a chess ‘Megafinal’ with children from all over Hampshire. Three children attended the event and all of them excelled with their resilience and determination on the day. A particular mention goes to the Year 4 qualifier (below) who won 5 out of 6 games and has now qualified for a national chess final called a Gigafinal. The first Clatford student to ever qualify for this event.

A huge well done to him and to all three of the boys that competed at this event.

I am looking forward to seeing lots of you at the colour run this weekend and hoping it will be a fun event that raises a good amount for the PTA. Thank you so much to all of you involved in its organisation this year, it is all really appreciated. Please be sure to come ready for it to be a hot one!

Reminder for next week KS2 Production at The Lights.

Monday 30th June

All KS2 children need to please be dropped off at The Lights between 8.30am and 9.15am. A teacher will be waiting in the foyer to collect and register the children.

It is essential that children also have a packed lunch, snack and sufficient water for the whole day (no fizzy drinks, cans or sweets please).
