28th March 2025
Dear Parents and carers,
Thank you to all of you who attended parents’ meetings this week, I know that our team here all appreciated your attendance and your reflections. A special thank you to Mrs. Carr as when Mrs. Jordan was unable to attend due to illness, she stepped up on her day off to make sure everyone was able to get an appointment.
Dolce Dinners
We have one week left of HC3S dinners and after that the kitchen will be run by Dolce. The office team have looked at the list and there are quite a lot of you who currently have school dinners, who are not signed up for the new system. Please get in contact with us if you haven’t already set up your account, because we will not be able to help over the Easter break. If you haven’t yet clicked on your email link, it may have expired and you may need a new one.
Bikes and Bunnies
Next week, Year 6 will be bringing their bikes into school to work with the local Bikeability team in order to improve their bike confidence and safety. Just as they finish this, on the final Friday of term, we will be holding our annual Clatford School Bunny Tail Hunt. For those new to the school, this is a long held school tradition and involves the children working together to find the missing parts of the bunnies tail, which will be scattered on the school field. I shall be praying for some sunshine.
Football
Mr. Murphy has asked me to share the following about the Year 5 and 6 football games this week:
“On Tuesday the 25th March a group of year 5 and 6 children had the task of representing Clatford at a football tournament at John Hanson school. We sent teams representing our school values of love, respect and courage with each pupil living up to those values extremely well. Not only did the children show our school values but encouraged not only each other but the teams they all played, showing competitiveness alongside great sportsmanship. The teams battled hard, giving a hundred percent in each match and ended up with teams reaching the semi-final and then the final with Clatford’s Team love being victorious and Team Respect coming in a hard fought third place.”
I was incredibly proud of all of the teams on the day and was very excited we have managed to walk away as champions! Well done to all of the children and helpers for this event.
Vocal Ambassadors
I was lucky enough to see a video of the vocal ambassador performance at the Anvil this week. They managed to fill that extremely large space with an incredible sound that night, and having had several practices cancelled, still managed to share a memorable performance with a very lucky audience. Well done to you all for representing the school. On a side note, and as something else to look forward to, we are now beginning to think about our O2 Young Voices trip ready for January 2026 as the information starting to come out for it this week!
Pizza and Pants
Finally, I would like to mention Year 3 again who all learned the craft of Pizza making as part of their DT curriculum this week, having visited Pizza Express. Thank you to the parents who helped with this! I am told the pizza’s tasted very good. Meanwhile in Year 2 DT they have been sewing pants for the King! I have really enjoyed looking at all their different designs, which are now on the board just outside Year 2.
Wishing you all a peaceful weekend and a happy Mother’s Day.
Mr M Kirk
