  • Living with Covid-19

    Fri 01 Apr 2022

As you know, from April the 1st there will be no free access to PCR testing and LFT testing. Please consider this letter a reminder of general health practices that we can all follow, in order to preserve the maximum attendance in school.

    • If a child is ill and has a temperature, we will still ask you to collect them as we always have. We have some remaining stocks of LFTs in school that, with your consent, we may be able to offer while our own stocks remain.
    • In any event where your child has tested positive for covid-19, they should not attend school for five days, or longer if they are still unwell.
    • If your child has been sent home with a temperature in particular, they should not return to school until the temperature has gone.
    • If a child has had a tummy-bug, with vomiting or diarrhea, they should not return to school for 48 hours.
    • At school, we will continue ensure we have good ventilation across the board to reduce the spread of any airborne viruses.
    • We will continue to provide children with hand sanitiser and encourage good hygiene.
    • In line with government guidance, we would advise you to wear a face-mask at events where there are groups of us together indoors.

  • Fair Trade Cafe

    Tue 22 Mar 2022 Mrs Oliver-Hawkins

Year Five have been studying Fair Trade in Geography this term, and wanted to find a way to share their research.  We decided between us that it would be lovely to create a Fair Trade cafe, baking and making food that was all based around Fair trade ingredients.  This was done today, and it was great fun. The children had free choice in the menu and made a selection of really scrummy food! We also decided that we would like to donate any money to the Ukrainian refugees and i'm delighted to say that we made £130 to help those who will hopefully make it to our safe community.  I would also like to thank Fyffes for donating bananas and knowledge to us over the last couple of weeks.  It is greatly appreciated. Overall a really lovely day.

  • Digital Safety Quiz

    Thu 20 Jan 2022 M Kirk

Thank you to all the parents who joined us over Zoom last week for our digital safety quiz. It was great to be able to talk about some of the steps we could all be taking to keep children safe online. Internet Safety day is coming up in a few weeks, and so no doubt we will be hearing lots more about it then as well!

  • Coronavirus Update

    Mon 29 Nov 2021 M Kirk

    Dear Parents,

This is just a quick update about the school's response following the weekend's coronavirus updates. As you may be aware, the DFE have now advised that staff should wear masks in communal areas. This has begun from today and in our school it will apply to any area outside the classroom or the office.

Over the next few weeks, we have some events planned where you have been invited into school. Based on the current levels of coronavirus in the school, and the current set of advice that we have been given, these can still go ahead. Could I please ask that anyone who attends one of these in school events, wears a mask at all times unless exempt. Could I also ask you to complete a lateral-flow test prior to attendance. If you wish to order some in advance I have included the link below.

    Lateral Flow Test Ordering Site

I am monitoring ventilation daily in school to ensure good flow of air around the classrooms, high-touch areas continue to be cleaned more regularly and staff are heightening their cleaning regime. As a school we currently have an extremely low number of cases but it is important we do not become complacent in the face of this and we do everything we can.

In the event that I receive further guidance or at the point that the number of infections in our school start to rise, it may be necessary to take further precautions. I will let you all know immediately should this be the case.

In the meantime, stay safe and well and I look forward to seeing you on Friday for our outdoor PTA Christmas Market. Could everyone please cross their fingers for an evening of dry skies and low winds!

    Thank you,

  • COP26 and the voice of the children

    Tue 09 Nov 2021 Mrs Oliver-Hawkins

Every child across the school has been talking about Planet Earth over the last week and how we need to help to look after it. We have talked about COP26 and what it means.  As a whole school we decided that we wanted to send a message to our world leaders, asking them to help. The children all made a leaf, writing their promises that they would like the world leaders to make. These were then sent up to COP26. We have had acknowledgement that the messages have been received. The children also wrote their own promises, things that they could do to make a real difference themselves.  The amazing Eco team have then displayed these in the top corridor for everyone to read...and to remind each other that we must keep to our promises.  Maybe you could think of a promise you could all make together at home?
