  • Clatford School perform at the O2

    Sun 22 Jan 2017 M Kirk
What an amazing day. The children left school at 10am and travelled all the way to the stunning O2. They joined with choirs from all over the country in a marathon singing rehearsal session in the afternoon before an incredible performance in the evening. A long day that I think all of the staff and children will remember for a very long time.
  • Safer Online Together

    Thu 19 Jan 2017 M Kirk
2017's first meeting of Clatford's E-Safety Council occured last week. These are the representatives of each class that get together to share thoughts about how we keep ourselves safe online. Children can come to the council for advice if they find anything worrying online at home or at school and if the council are worried they are trained to always report that to the teachers. Well done for keeping us safe E-Safety Council!
  • Journey

    Thu 19 Jan 2017 M. Kirk
Children in Year 5 have been doing some writing based on a picture book by Aaron Becker called Journey. They have explored pictures using drama, language, code and even music and sounds. Eventually they produced their own interactive journey experiences using scratch (developing their knowledge of using random number generators) and were able to develop their narrative writing skills through their use of figurative language in letters and story openings.
  • We Grew a Pound!

    Thu 19 Jan 2017 M Kirk
Well done to the kind children who grew a pound for children in need. They managed to take a pound, spend it on materials, make some goods and sell sell sell! Their creative and original goods went down brilliantly with everyone that visited and they ended up raising an amazing amount for Children in Need. Thanks as well to all the parents in the school who came and supported the event. Well done!
  • How We Learn

    Thu 19 Jan 2017 M Kirk
In Year 3 this week children have been learning to learn. With the help of all of their learning friends they have been finding out about how by developing our ideas, linking them and deepening them we can show real mastery and understanding of our new ideas. Miss Green used lego bricks to demonstrate this for the class.
  • Clatford School hosts Schools Direct ICT Training

    Fri 06 Jan 2017 M Kirk

Today, our school was joined by 30 teaching students from the Anton Andover Alliance where they were given opportunities to see the different ways that primary aged children can develop their ICT skills. They talked to Malaysian teaching students using google hangouts; programmed life-sized robots; participated in 'hour of code'; were given tours of the school; played programmable board games; developed their understanding of the national computing requirements and were able to develop their knowledge of the Scratch programming language.

For most of the day they were helped by our talented Year 6s who were their teachers for many of the activities and supported them all day as part of the training. Many teaching students commented on the way out about how confident, polite, intelligent and well spoken the children were that had helped them were. A rewarding day for everyone.
