  • Christingle Services

    Thu 30 Nov 2017 J Britten
Clatford School enjoyed a lovely Christingle service this year, together with Revd. Katrina. The children all made Christingles in class and learned about the significance of all of the different elements. Many collected money in their Children's Society candles as well, in order to support children in need all over the country. We talked about letting the children's light shine at this special time of year. When the lights were out, and the candles were let, we said a special prayer and reflected on the light of Jesus. What a beautiful moment!
  • Reporters working hard...

    Wed 29 Nov 2017 Mrs Oliver-Hawkins

    Reporting in Year 4

Year 4 have been studying Invaders and Settlers. They have focussed on Anglo-Saxons and the Vikings. Today they travelled to Lindisfarne to meet a monk who had been in the monastry when it was so brutally invaded. They wrote some fantastically inquisitve questions and showed that they had the skills to make fantastic reporters.

    Knitting in Year 4!

Year 4 have been really lucky to have the help of the lovely ladies and gentlemen from the church. Over the last three weeks they have come into our class and introduced us to the wonderful world of knitting. The children have produced some wonderful owls, and if you pop into the local church over Christmas you will see them all on display. Twit twoo!

  • Fantastic Fairgrounds

    Fri 24 Nov 2017 S P

In Year 6 this year we have been designing our own working fairground rides. We learned about how to design and make the mechanics of the rides first, before designing a theme to go with each one. We came into small groups, collaborating with all of our ideas, to create a nice variety of rides. This is definitely a fairground we would like to visit ourselves!

  • Egyptians Invade

    Thu 23 Nov 2017 M Kirk
On a diplomatic mission from the Black Lands (known to many as Egypt) our school had an important visitor. Taia brought with her all sorts of artefacts from her home nation including food, games and clothing. She also helped us understand how Egyptian doctors could diagnose and cure peoples ill. The children at Clatford found some of these methods unusual to say the least! Overall the children showed their curious natures and after the day's visit were really excited to share everything they had found out.
  • A Week of Kindness, Friendship and Wisdom

    Fri 17 Nov 2017 M Kirk

This week in Clatford we have been studying kindness and friendship in a week full of tasks designed to remind us we are all special and important.

Grace from Year 5 said: "I enjoyed this week because it was a real chance to show everybody that we are all unique and we are all good friends."

April explained that: "I really liked it because it shows that although we all think in a slightly different way we all run along the same line."

Children have been creating stone fish to go with our school book. Children also created art, using all of their handprints across a rainbow of colours.

Year 5 have produced a book of their shared wisdom to celebrate their understanding.
