  • Solar Farm visit

    Sat 30 Mar 2019 Mrs Oliver-Hawkins
Year four have spent this term beginning to understand Sustainability, and have already enjoyed visiting the Sustainability centre.  This week, we have been  lucky enough to visit the Solar farm in Lymington.  It is a community owned farm and provides enough electricity to power most of Lymington.  The children have learnt a huge amount of information, including acting out the effect of photons landing on atoms on a solar panel! As always, Year 4 were a delight to take out.
  • A Gift To You by Year One

Fri 29 Mar 2019 Miss Bridgman

This week was Year One’s turn to lead Friday worship, with Mothering Sunday this weekend we linked the value “thoughtfullness” and Mother’s Day.

We shared our ideas about what Mother’s Day means to us and how we could celebrate with our mums.

Here is the link to our video A Gift To You, which we sang on Friday for our mums!

  • Year 5 Liddington

    Thu 28 Mar 2019 M Kirk

It has been an amazing start to our Liddington Adventure. Year 5 have managed to conquer Giant Swing, Jacob’s Ladder, Crate Challenge, Vertical

Challenge and the Zip Wire. All children have had a go at everything and the values they show in school have shone on our trip. Determination, bravery and compassion have taken centre stage. I have only managed to upload a few of the many pictures due to poor signal but I will post more next week. A superb bunch of children to take away!

  • Violin concert

    Tue 26 Mar 2019 Mrs Oliver-Hawkina
Year 4 have been working so hard this term to learn yet another new skill...the violin! I was blown away today listening to all 30 of them play such a wide range of music.  They were all so knowledgeable about their new instruments, and entertained their parents and year 3 fantastically; with songs, plucking and even some beautiful bow work.  Not a squeak to be heard...well done everyone!
  • Year 5 - Fairly Traded Rice Sale (JTS)

    Mon 25 Mar 2019 M Kirk
A massive congratulations to Year 5 today who completed their 45Kg rice challenge. Year 5 have been learning all about how trade works and in particular what some of the barriers are to making sure that, as much as possible, the money that consumers pay ends up benefitting the producers as well. With that in mind they decided to spread the message and write persuasive letters, plays, posters, leaflets and speeches to convince our community that they could try and support this cause by purchasing our fairly traded rice. They sold every bag!
  • Big Green Clean

    Sat 23 Mar 2019 Mrs Oliver-Hawkins
Friday was national Big Green Clean day.  Clatford's eco club were very keen to ensure that every single person in the school was involved.  With this in mind, they spoke to the whole school in worship on Thursday, reminding all the staff and pupils how important it is to look after our planet.  They wanted to make sure that we all did our bit to help. So... throughout the day on Friday every class went to their allotted area and rubbish picked.  We covered the playground, the field, the car park and the pavements either side of our school.  We picked up a scary three bin bags of rubbish.  Whilst this was a fabulous achievement, it is also a reminder to us all, to make sure that we are doing our bit to look after the planet every single day.
  • Saturday morning community gardening

    Sat 23 Mar 2019 Mrs Oliver-Hawkins
With the stormy weather officially behind us, it was time to tackle  the next stage of our gardening area. Parents, children, teachers, family members and governors all arrived at school on Saturday armed with wheelbarrows, shovels and forks.  What a fantastic turn out we had.  I would like to say a massive thank you to all those who arrived, and helped to dig, lay matting, gravel and paint to up-level our outside area. It really does look fantastic, and once the gardening club have carried the greenhouses back, it will be all hands on deck to produce another bumper crop this year!
  • Clearing the garden

    Fri 15 Mar 2019 Mrs Oliver-Hawkins

  • Year 4 Sustainability trip

    Mon 11 Mar 2019 Mrs Oliver-Hawkins
We were so privileged to enjoy a beautiful day out in the glorious sunshine at the wonderful Sustainability centre.  We had the opportunity to extend our knowledge on sustainability, before undertaking a walk of the site, taking in all the amazing structures, including tepees and yurts! The children were fantastic, building sand bag arches and creating a beautifully decorated clay oven.  More photos to follow on our class page!
  • Clatford School Siams

    Fri 08 Mar 2019 A Rice

Its official! Clatford CE Primary School is ‘Excellent’ in all aspects of its work. We are the first school in Hampshire to receive this accolade.  The school received its Church (SIAMS) inspection in February. This inspection looked at the impact of our School Values and the contribution collective worship and RE makes to the lives and attainment of the children and adults in our school community.  The Inspector found that ‘the senior leaders of Clatford CE Primary School are forward looking in their approach and this has resulted in an excellent school where adults and children alike strive to be the very best they can be in all that they undertake’.

The school underwent a rigorous process.  The inspector observed the teachers teaching RE as well as looking at all the children’s books.  They spoke to groups of children about the impact of our values on their lives and what role collective worship plays.  In addition they came into collective worship, went out to play and had dinner with the children. They interviewed the Governors of the school and spoke to me. It was a very intensive and busy day.

The Inspector identified many strengths of the school.  She felt that ‘the superb commitment to continuous improvement, enable all within the schools distinctive Christian community to flourish’.  She felt that relationships were exceptionally strong and attributed by all to the schools values and quality of teaching.  The Inspector went on to say that this leads to an admirable ethos which has a profound impact on behaviour and positive attitudes to learning.

As Headteacher it is a real pleasure to lead such an excellent and outstanding team of dedicated staff and children who have such a love of learning. The care and trust forms the heart of school life.  I am delighted that SIAMS found that the children’s spiritual development is exceptionally well promoted and that the children achieve outstandingly well. All of those involved work tirelessly to provide high quality memorable activities that captures every Childs imagination. I am privileged to work in such a lovely school where laughter and smiles are an everyday occurrence. The SIAMS Inspector captured the very essence of the school when she said ‘this is a school where children, staff and parents speak about being cared for, supported and valued’.  I like to think that every child matters and everyone is valued within our Clatford Family.
