  • New Parent Governor Elected - Congratulations Steve Caruana

    Thu 13 Jul 2017 M Kirk

As a result of our recent parent-governor elections, we have now appointed a new governor. Welcome and congratulations to Steve Caruana. As a governor he will be supporting the school in its goal to ensure that all children at Clatford learn and grow together. Steve told me this morning he was looking forward to joining the team and supporting the school. If you wish to find out more about the important and highly valued role that governors perform in our school please visit the governors section of our school website.

  • Wimbledon Afternoon

Wed 12 Jul 2017 Miss Green

    Wimbledon Afternoon!

Here at Clatford, we love our sport and have shown how much we enjoy incorporating sport into our learning!

Our tennis themed afternoon included 6 activities based around the tradition annual event.

Watching Wimbledon on BBC- We learned how tennis was scored and watched some live matches.

Designing a healthy diet for a tennis player- drawing a breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack for an athlete. The older children thought about a balanced diet including carbohydrates, fats and protein.

Tennis Maths challenges- We solved many maths activities, ranging from Year R colouring court challenge all the way through to KS2 calculating winner's earnings!

Designing our own tennis wear- We thought tennis wear should be multi-coloured with symbols and pictures, so we designed our own men's and women's tennis wear.

Sporting Values banner- We think values are important in our school, so we thought about values in sport and created a huge banner with them all on which will be hung up to encourage us on Sports Day.

Playing Tennis- After all the activities, we were able to hold our own matches, learn new skills and play tennis with a friend. Lots of us coached the younger pupils and helped them.

The children had a wonderful afternoon. Here at Clatford we definitely enjoy being part of a team!

  • Back in Time with Year 5

Tue 04 Jul 2017 Mr Kirk
Mrs Sullivan has been teaching Year 5 all about the Ancient Greeks, with their way of life and varied traditions. On Greek day this week the children ate Greek food, created Greek Olympic events, examined Greek artefacts, wrote using Greek language, completed Greek maths and investigate Ancient Greek clothing. Children explained that they had learned a lot from the day, and many tried their first ever olive or sun-dried tomato. A real Greek experience.
